Mildura Big 4 Holiday Park, VIC

This trip has been our first time heading South and as much as we have absolutely LOVED every minute so far, we have decided to head North and chase the warmer weather to work on those tans while the kids enjoy some water play in QLD! Beginning our journey from SA to QLD meant moving back into VIC to a town called Mildura, a town we had heard of; but not heard a lot about….but that was about to change.

We stayed at the Mildura Big 4 Holiday Park and as soon as you drive in, it just blows you away. It has such an amazing feel to it, the moment you drive in the driveway. It is a very family friendly park with even friendlier staff and great facilities.

They offer large powered sites and gorgeous en-suite sites, which we were lucky enough to utilise for this stay. They are super clean, modern and even boast heat lamps x 2; something we had not seen before in an en-suite site. This made the little kids (and big kids…) very comfortable and warm when showering over these winter nights.

The parks pool, camp kitchen and adults games room are added features to this great park; with the kids enjoying a few games of ring toss with daddy.

The caravan park hosts a kids indoor heated play room and 2 x outdoor play areas. It’s not very often your kids get a child’s play room specifically for 0-5 year olds to go crazy in. There is also a jumping pillow that includes an hour for toddlers ONLY which we found to be a great idea.

One of the most attractive features of this park is that it is NEXT to Mildura Central shopping village. Not ‘200m-300m’ or a ‘short walk’, RIGHT ACROSS THE ROAD. If the entry of the park isn’t close enough for you to the shops, they also have an access gate at the rear of the park that leads directly to the shops. It is out this gate that you will find a Vanilla Slice award winning Bakery and a 24 hr gym…..both of which we utilized on this visit….to cancel each other out of course. Each morning it was special for the kids to walk across the road to the shops and it was also ideal if the weather turned inclement to go and play in the shops for a couple of hours. We had fresh meat, bread and milk every day and the kids spent some pocket money at Woolies.

The Mildura region is an incredible location for cycling due to its flat terrain and scenic beauty alongside the Murray River.

Chris and I tried to get out every day and take the kids to see Mildura plus get a little bit of fitness along the way.

Mildura blew us away with how much there is to do here and how cute this town is. From not knowing much or really even hearing much about it, we loved everything about it. Well manicured gardens and parks plus a great variety of large shops and friendly people. We unfortunately didn’t have enough time to explore everything we would have liked but we will definitely be back in the summer months to explore more and stay longer!
