We visited the Big 4 Gold Coast Holiday Park, Helensvale QLD at the end of 2017 and loved it so much we couldn’t wait to return! It has so many great features and facilities that will make you want to stay for months just to experience them all!
As we have visited so many parks of late we had forgotten how great this park truly is, We have eagerly been watching the recent transformation the park has undergone via social media and couldn’t wait to check it out for ourselves. The transformation involved creating some amazing sites now known as the ‘evergreen sites’ in which the entire site is covered in astro turf. These sites are also double the size of what they once were. They are the most lush sites we have been on; spacious, clean, practical and they feel great underfoot. We found ourselves just lying out in the sun on the astro turf in the middle of the day soaking up the sun. They are perfect for families with kids, no tears if they fall and even better, no tracking dirt inside your tents or vans! As soon as we pulled up our kids even commented ‘ooooh this is comfy’. What an amazing addition to an already amazing park!
Apart from the HUGE evergreen sites, there are many things that make this park one of a kind.
The Pool; It has a resort style pool & spa area including private cabanas that are serviced by wait staff. We found these to be especially great as the sun was out and provided shade and protection for the kids. Our kids didn’t stay long in the cabanas though as the pool area hosted a great water slide and a heated spa which we couldn’t get them out of.
A licensed Cafe; ‘Nibbles Café’ that serves breaky, lunch and dinner. We found this cafe awesome for coffees of a morning while the kids relaxed by the pool. They serve a variety of meals including; hand crumbed salt and pepper calamari and lamb shanks. They make their own biscuits and muffins from scratch in their kitchen and if you are super keen you can even make suggestions for tomorrows baking!
A fire pit; Although it was too warm for us to sit around the fire pit or by the fire place it made such a beautiful (vibe) in the cafe area. A definite for winter!
A BMX Track; which is not for the faint hearted. Our kids love being outdoors and as this track has just had extra gravel laid, it created a perfect activity for our kids.
Tropical fishtanks in the camp kitchen and toilets; The camp kitchen is super large, well protected from the weather, hosts tvs for any of your favourite programs PLUS all of the kitchen facilities you will need to make great meals. There is lots of seating and all of your washing up items are provided also.
The amenities building is newly renovated with large showers for better convenience, care and comfort. They have glass doors (which you never see!) on all showers plus a Mother’s Room, baby baths and amenities for the disabled.
Family BBQ Area; The family BBQ area that is located near the ensuite sites allow an extra place to cook up some dinner for the family. There is also plenty of seating for those that want to sit and watch the cook…..or sit and drink while the cook, cooks!!!
Dog friendly; PLUS a large leash-free dog obstacle park. This park also provides a dog Wash & Dog-sitting which I’ve never seen before.
Petting zoo; with daily animal feeding. Our kids visited the petting zoo every morning. They especially loved the alpaca, goat, chickens and ducks.
Jumping pillow, tennis court and badminton court; I don’t know how many hours our kids have spent on a jumping pillow but it NEVER gets old! This is largest jumping pillow around and surrounded by soft white sand. It has a shade cover too so the kids can enjoy themselves without getting sunburnt.
The newly surfaced tennis court didnt get a run this trip due to so many other attractions; however definitely looks the goods.
This park is the closest park to Movieworld, Wet n Wild and a variety of shops and family food outlets! Its within walking distance OR a VERY short and quick drive. It is amazingly convenient!

For those that dont already know, Warner Bros. Movie World is a movie related theme park in beautiful Gold Coast, QLD. The park contains various movie-themed rides and attractions ranging from motion simulators to roller coasters and slow river rides. We have travelled much of the world and this is EASILY one of our favourite places on earth.
All four of us said that this has been our favourite day to date. Fun, exciting, entertaining and memorable are all words that come to mind when asked about Movie World. It caters for all ages and is the happiest place in Australia.
Tickets start from $69. Check out their website or here for special yearly, fortnightly deals etc.
Sea World is a marine mammal park, oceanarium, and theme park located in the heart of Gold Coast. It has great rides, animal exhibits and other attractions, and it promotes conservation through education and the rescue and rehabilitation of sick, injured or orphaned wildlife.
The last time we visited Sea World “The Reef’ however, this trip we were lucky enough to see IT FINISHED!! Its a fully accessible interactive splash area that features an array of water cannons, spouts and life-sized animal sculptures.
There are also a number of amazing rides here at seaworld, with many of them being child friendly. We found that there were also a number of great rides for the adrenaline junkies like us, with our 5 year old daughter taking on the best of them the ‘Storm Coaster’ numerous times putting many of the adults that were to frightened to attempt it to shame.
We were lucky enough to be on the Gold Coast for the 2018 Gold Coast Show. It was FREE to attend from August 31 to September 2 2018. The show included an equestrian, side-show alley, wood chopping, baby animal farms, arts and crafts, camel rides on the beach, live music and OUR FAVOURITE, the Showbag Pavilion.
Paradise Country Farm & Wildlife Park is a place where children can be children and parents can relax! It hosts Aussie wildlife and a cuddly collection of farmyard friends, where kids are free to explore and delight in all that Paradise Country Farm has to offer. We visited on Fathers day and had the most enjoyable day full of activities, fun and food!! Luckily for us fathers day at Paradise Country meant we got to experience the ‘festival on the Farm 2018’ which included live music, pony rides, face painting, sheep shearing, tug of war for the kids and thong throwing for the dads, which Chris was lucky enough to win!!
GOLD COAST would be our favourite place in Australia with everything to do for the family. If it was easier to do so we would definitely relocate and move here in a heartbeat. Big 4 Gold coast is just wonderful and a place you MUST visit should you come to Queensland. There is so much to do in the park itself, and knowing that you are only minutes from the park after a huge day at one of the theme-parks is immeasurable. The staff here are amazing and the location is unbeatable.
