Before Chris and I arrive at a caravan park we visit their website and show our kids what activities we can participate in for our stay. We read on Maroochy River Parks website that they are ‘the Sunshine Coast’s friendliest Caravan Park’ and isn’t that the truth!! We were very warmly welcomed by friendly and knowledgeable staff before we even made it into the office at reception.

Maroochy River Park is only the second park we have ever visited that has this rare but absolutely incredible and necessary service for keeping those happily married couples, happily married – ‘All Caravans and Camper Trailers are put on site by their park tractor’. GOLD!!! We LOVE this idea. Its quick, completely hassle free and its perfectly parked every time!
They ask that you un-hitch in the long bay at the front gate so they can connect up to the tractor and they will take the stress out for you. All sites are powered, with running water and grey water sullage.
Maroochy River Park has recently been through a full refurbishment. The park boasts large modern clean amenities, free WiFi, a covered outdoor camp kitchen, a large outdoor barbeque area with undercover seating, a fire-pit area, a playground with nearby shade/rest area and a beautiful pool with large cantilever umbrella.
We are totally bias but believe we had the best site of the park. It was huge, right next to the amenities block ANDDDDD it backed onto a cute outdoor play area for the kids. The kids spent over 4 hrs a day at this park playing in the sand and climbing on the equipment. They would literally wake up and go straight over to the park which allowed Chris and I to get breakfast sorted and get ready for the day. We were blown away by this site!
The fire pit is fired up every night, no pun intended and fully hosted by staff at the park allowing guests to sit around of an evening. The staff cooked up the largest marshmallows (the size of a meal) for all guests and the kids just loved it, not to mention, they were cooked to perfection!!!
Maroochy River Park also hosts facilities that allow your stay to be stress free. A laundry, book exchange station and herb garden which we added these herbs to most meals as it was right at the back of our site.
We had read on Wikicamps that the staff here were amazingly friendly and this was an understatement. They would ask daily how you were, if you needed anything to make your stay better and inform you of daily activities that the park was hosting. Comments such as ‘welcome home’ after you had been out for the day really made you feel welcomed and like you were at ‘home’. The staff constantly provided activities for the kids such as a large Jenga game, gave them free ice-creams and even offered the use of some kayaks to take out in the local river.
Most Mondays they host a breakfast of pancakes (free of charge) under the outdoor kitchen right by the pool for all guests. Chris and I enjoyed a coffee by the pool whilst the kids ate a beautifully cooked breakfast. Again the hospitality made you feel as if you were sitting around with family and friends.
This park is perfectly located. It is literally across one road from the Maroochydore River and within 3kms to the infamous Sunshine Plaza and Big Top shopping complex with both hosting a large variety of shops. We rode there daily along the river which was a great excuse to get out into the sun and get some exercise.
Things to do in beautiful Maroochydore?
Sunshine water craft is located in Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre and is great fun for all ages. All in one boat, we fed the fish for 20 minutes and the kids loved every minute of this close fish encounter.

Maroochydore is only an hour north of Brisbane. We were lucky enough to have an NRL semi final playing at Suncorp Stadium during our stay; Brisbane Broncos vs St George Illawarra Dragons. It was an easy drive south to what would be one of the best stadiums we have ever watched any sport at and what an awesome game it was too!
Maroochydore hosts lots of cute markets around town. We visited Fisherman Rd Sunday Markets which is a fresh fruit and veg market where we stocked up on cheap, fresh fruit for the kids, even trying a new fruit that we hadn’t eaten before: Toad Fruit. A mix between rock-melon & dew-melon with the texture of a pear and the kids loved it!
During this trip Chris and I are constantly asked if we are heading up to Noosa? We have never been to Noosa and have heard its gorgeous. As Maroochydore is so close we made a day trip and found it to be exactly this; beautiful and scenic.
The beaches are clean and people are friendly. We had a great time and will definitely visit again when we have a longer stay.
Lastly, our final memory created at Maroochy River Park was of the staff coming and removing our van via their tractor out the front gate. Again, we haven’t had this done before and is something that takes the hassle out of leaving, arguing over reversing and hitching up. We cant speak highly enough of the staff at Maroochy River Park and can say without any hesitation that you will have the same experience.
