The Major Mitchell Caravan Park is located on the eastern entrance to Mitchell and is well sign posted with beautiful flags and signs for ease of entry!
The park is situated on the banks of the Maranoa River with spacious drive- through sites and very friendly staff. Caroline and Craig, the park owners are down to earth, kind and generous, putting on a HUGE platter of cheese and entertainment for guests by their very flash fire pit.
There are a range of site options available including ensuite, powered and camping and something we haven’t seen before, each site is physically marked out with white lines which allows for easy parking of your caravan or trailer.
Park facilities include clean modern amenities and one I can personally say, very very hot clean water!! I was desperate for a hot shower and loved every second!! The park also has a laundry, barbecues, large camp kitchen and cute little fire places scattered around the park which the kids LOVED!!
What’s to do in Mitchell you ask?
- The Great Artesian Spa, Mitchell. Share the secret locals have known for years: a soak in their mineralised waters is relaxing for the body and therapeutic for the soul. It’s a beautiful 39 degrees and perfect for people with arthritis. They also have a second hot spring which sits at 21 degrees, if you can’t handle the heat.
- Mitchellon Maranoa Art Gallery, which has free entry.
The Major Mitchell Caravan Park has a reputation as one of Australia’s friendliest parks and both Chris and I can vouch for that. They personally drive you down to your sites and ensure your stay is one of the best.
We highly recommend Major Mitchell Caravan Park and know that it will be a positive experience for your family.
